Hello there, i'm making this post about Auto Attacks.Basically they significantly do lesser damage as the expansions go on, and im really worried that our beloved auto attacks will be forgotten totally.
I was watching some wod beta streams in the 100 pvp realm and see what's going on with this new expansion, i am actually surprised how low damage auto attacks does in the new (cata - mop and wod beta) exp packs.is horrible for me that i play since TBC see that Wow turned to 'mash all your keys for do damage' any spell in any order.
But i'm here to talk specifically about basic/auto attacks in the past, so the basic attack in vanilla wow was really really Strong just take a look at the warrior class (you probably go check the Maydie's video on youtube).
One proc of your sword specialization (for who doesnt know is a 5% chance to proc an extra attack with a sword equipped) could easly cut off 50% or more of the enemy health bar. now i see in the warlords beta a warr in full pvp gear doing like 6k-7k AA (non critted) damage vs a 300k health player and i was like WTF, i know actually is a beta but seems even in mop/cata the actual auto attack damage is still pretty low especially for 2handed users (ret paladin/warriors) i hope in wod the modifier of spells on wep damage will be lowered (400%wep damage on current beta mortal strike)to bring back the white damage(maybe increasing 2h wep damage).
Some of you guys will probably remember in TBC or vanilla the enhancement shaman (check Unbrekable's video or Beavis shaman video on Youtube) with 2h weapon and a Stormstrike that deal 100% weapon damage you can notice in the videos that the stormstrike and the auto attack damage are pretty high (1k crit+ on vanilla with averange health of 3k-4k) and on TBC about 2kcrit + on average 10k hp. even in wotlk the Auto attack is still pretty valuable, but something happens in cataclysm, the damage of auto attack fall.
As a Ret pala player i tested some auto attack numbers on cata and see how the auto attack becomes terrible, talents that increase crit only for spells and the poor auto attack with only 5% or less crit chance with full vicious gear (info obtained on AT Cata Realm) deals very poor damage about 14-17k (on a Dummy) average health of a player = 120k so even if a player takes 17k in cata by an auto is Still pretty low damage, but as i said it was on a Dummy so imagine if hit a plate/mail wearer in pvp gear the result is 30-40% reduction by resilience and about 30-40% reduction from the armor so even assume that the damage mitigated by armor and resil is 50%(dummy got armor so i lowered to 50%) i would crit for 8-9k auto attack that does mean 4k auto attack uncritted (with 5%crit is almost impossible) so my basic attack will be totally useless(in vanilla an auto attack crit + seal of command proc would deal alot of damage, about 2k total (critted both) on averange 3k/4k health.
So our good old White damage will be really gone forever in this new expansion? I just wanna know all of you guys what do you think about this.
